HISTORIC MILESTONE! MODENAS Z15GT Claims First-Ever Cub Prix Pro-Am Victory At Sepang
SHAH ALAM, 19 OCTOBER 2026 – Eight days. Two races. Two historic milestones. In a sensational display of rapid development and racing grit, the Malaysian-developed MODENAS Z15GT has officially claimed its maiden victory in the PETRONAS Sprinta Pro-Am Cup during Round 7 of the PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship 2026, held at the iconic PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (South Track).
This historic breakthrough comes a mere eight days after the platform celebrated its first-ever podium finish, signaling a powerful new era for the national manufacturer in grassroots motorsports.
From P16 to P2, Now P1: The Magic of Firdaus Hamdan
The history-making victory was delivered by Raynorton Motorsport’s star rider, Md Firdaus Mohd Hamdan (#98). Just over a week prior at the LYL International Karting Circuit, Firdaus shocked the paddock by clawing his way from 16th on the grid to finish a brilliant second.
Stepping onto the world-class tarmac of Sepang, the team went one better. Starting from seventh on the grid, Firdaus masterfully steered his race-prepared Z15GT over the intense six-lap sprint, stopping the clock at a total time of 8 minutes 22.674 seconds to take the checkered flag and secure the official race classification ahead of challengers Md Haziq Rosmaza and Md Harith Rosmaza from TW Racing Team.
A Triumph For Independent Teams & Grassroots Racing
This victory carries immense weight for MODENAS, a member of the DRB-HICOM Group. The brand returned to competitive racing in 2026 via a unique collaborative program supporting four independent partner teams in the Pro-Am category. The Sepang round proved the programmatic strategy correct, as three Z15GT machines finished in the top eight—with teammate Md Amirul Affiq Ahmad Solikhin securing fifth and Md Afiq Hamdan taking eighth.
